John C. Flippen, Jr. is a Managing Director of PetroCapRE and is a principal in the organization.
John has over three decades of experience as an entrepreneur and investor with successes in leveraged buyouts, turnarounds, and startups.
Before providing advisory services, John worked for a small mezzanine/equity fund. His initial business experience was as an entrepreneur where he developed a niche retail business in the music industry that captured considerable market share and grew to become one of the top five companies of its kind in the US. John has also had experience in successfully managing a turnaround situation. John is a speaker and expert witness on the valuation of convenience stores and petroleum marketers. He earned his MBA from the Darden School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia where he also completed a China residency program at the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business and graduated with honors (Beta Gamma Sigma) from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.
John has been a speaker at several associations and conferences including Outlook, NACS, SIGMA, TPCA, OPIS, Valero and AREE. He has also written articles for CSP, OPIS, BTL and CSN.
John E. Sartory is a Managing Director of PetroCapRE and is a principal in the organization.
John has been involved in the retail petroleum and convenience store industry since 1979 and has close to 30 years of experience in all facets of the industry.
John's unique and diverse background in the industry also includes more than 13 years as co-owner of a small network of Texaco branded service stations and conveniences stores and over 8 years as an employee of Shell Oil Company. John graduated with honors (Magna Cum Laude) from the State University of New York College at Geneseo, with a degree in Management Science. He also attended New York University, Graduate School of Business Administration, Stern School of Business with a concentration in finance.
